Malba looks for its next Artistic Director

The Museum of Latin American Art in Buenos Aires (Malba) is seeking to appoint its next Artistic Director, to succeed Agustin Pérez Rubio from June, 2018.

Malba is internationally recognised as a reference point for Latin American art and as a beacon of artistic and cultural life in Buenos Aires. Functioning as a not-for-profit
organisation, today the Museum houses a collection of 600 works of Latin American art from the beginning of the 20th century to the present day. Malba is a dynamic cultural centre, offering temporary exhibitions of a very diverse nature (including those in partnership with other museums, international collections and foundations around the world) and exhibitions of contemporary Argentinian and Latin American art. With the mission of creating an inclusive and participatory meeting space, Malba also runs a major film, literature, Education and publications programme. Together, the public programmes of exhibitions, cinema, literature, education and publishing attract an average annual audience of 400,000.

In the new Artistic Director, Malba seeks a professional curator/Artistic Director with an international reputation for their work. They will be well networked and will attract international attention to Malba while also ensuring that the Museum is in touch with the broad community of Buenos Aires and the wider region. Must be a person sensitive to the context of the museum and its culture, feel comfortable working with the Founder, Eduardo F. Costantini and the newly appointed Board of Directors of Malba Foundation, and have the ambition to take the museum to the next stage of its development. The new Artistic Director will work closely with the Advisory Committee on the museum's institutional strategy, exhibitions and adquisitions program.

A keen interest and specialization in the modern and contemporary art and culture of Latin America, interpersonal and communication skills, as well as enthusiasm for the development of an innovative program that contributes to increasing the impact of the museum by attracting new and diverse audiences, will be especially valued.

The selection process will be conducted by the international agency Liz Amos Associates: http://www.lizamosassociates.com/ and will be in charge of the President and Board of the Malba Foundation. The new Director will be announced publicly during the month of May 2018.
