03.15 — 06.16.2014
First exhibition in Argentina by one of the world's most influential photographers. A collection of 122 photographs, selected by Testino himself, is presented, reflecting the diversity of his work.
Mario Testino: In Your Face is an intimate look at the world and work of the famous Peruvian photographer. It includes his most daring and iconic images and shows different aspects of his work: from fashion and advertising photographs to autobiographical and provocative images that speak of elegance, beauty, style, irreverence, and contradiction.
The exhibition combines his work from many years for magazines such as Vogue and Vanity Fair and for brands such as Gucci and Versace, with personal snapshots. It reflects the interaction between mass media, glamour, and icons of popular culture, such as Kate Moss, Gisele Bündchen, Nicole Kidman, Gwyneth Paltrow, Mick Jagger, Madonna, Lady Gaga, Brad Pitt, and David Beckham, among others. Through a carefully curated installation, the exhibition allows viewers to form an intimate and emotional connection with the works, their subjects, and the artist's universe.
“I am delighted to be able to share my work in this fascinating and beautiful country, whose tradition, elegance, history, and energy have been a great inspiration to me,” says Mario Testino. “I hope you enjoy this exhibition as much as I enjoy your country,” he adds.
Mario Testino: In Your Face was first presented (October 2012–February 2013) at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, where it received more than 150,000 visitors. Along with the exhibition, the catalog In Your Face (224 pages), published by Taschen in 2012, will also be presented at Malba.
